Washington, D.C. at night

Just got back from an evening touring of the capitol mall ... it was beautiful, but driving was not all that easy.  Linda and I were trying to navigate for Dad from the back seat, Pete kept pointing out different monuments from the front passenger seat, and Dad was going crazy trying so hard to show us everything, but the streets just wouldn't cooperate.  It was a great way to start the D.C. experience though.  Seeing the capitol, the white house, the Washington monument, the Lincoln memorial, the Jefferson monument ... all lit up on a September evening was so just plain wonderful.

Tomorrow, we will take a bus to the rail station and ride into D.C. We have talked about doing this for so long that it's hard to believe it's really happening.  I'll try to figure out the picture stuff tomorrow so that I can send some memories to you.

Love to all,

Mom
